General Tomato growing advice: Tomatoes like well composted and well drained soil. Particularly when young plants it is important to keep them well watered. While they don’t mind a little cold from time to time, they will perish with frost. Indeterminate types will require staking or trellising. Determinate types will also benefit from a small strong staking. You can plant tomatoes deep in the soil and this will provide more nutrients and water to the plant. It will also make it more stable in the wind. Tomato expertise will give you a tomato by Christmas, but peak tomato onslaught will be February and March. Good luck!
